On August 6, 2024, the Council of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP-HCM) convened a specialized conference entitled “Crafting a Strategic Development Plan for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City in the 2025-2030 Period.” . 

In attendance were Assoc Prof Dr Le Quang Minh, former Director of the University Management Institute at Vietnam National University-HCM, and Chairman Dang Van Thanh of TTC Group’s Board of Directors.

Representing UMP-HCM were Prof Dr Tran Diep Tuan, Secretary of the University's Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, Assoc Prof Dr Ngo Quoc Dat, Managing Vice President, Assoc Prof Dr Nguyen Van Chinh, Vice President, along with esteemed faculty members from the Party Committee, University Council, and leaders of affiliated units, as well as representatives from the trade union and youth union. 

The conference was organized to review and evaluate the development progress and achievements of UMP-HCM during the 2020-2025 period. Simultaneously, it aimed to facilitate discussions and develop key strategic groups to finalize the Strategic Development Plan for the University from 2025 to 2030. 

At the conference, Assoc Prof Dr Le Quang Minh presented on strategic management and thinking revolving around the vision, conditions, driving forces, and structure for developing UMP-HCM into a world-class university. Additionally, Chairman Dang Van Thanh shared the strategic planning and implementation methods of private enterprises, providing a multidimensional perspective on the University’s strategic development planning.

Presenting the draft orientations in the University's strategic plan for 2025-2030, he emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation and utilize artificial intelligence. The core objective of education is to produce "Champions" - innovators in the fields of healthcare and medical education.   

Strategic planning is a crucial process that helps the University identify development orientations in the context of implementing university autonomy to capitalize on the achievements of the past 77 years, strive for new accomplishments, continue to maintain the position and prestige of a leading national university, always lead in training high-quality medical human resources, access and develop, transfer technology and modern medical techniques to serve the community and contribute to healthcare for the people.
